Tecno W3 is an affordable smartphone from Tecno mobile and is available in Kenya. The device is the latest addition to the W Series and is the successor to the Tecno W4. The two devices share a striking similarity with the same processor, operating system, camera setup and the screen size. The W3 will be good enough for an alternative if you are of the opinion that the W4 is overpriced. You can get the device at a price of Ksh. 8,499 in the country.

Design and display

The Tecno W3 has a significantly better design than its predecessor, the W4, but it is a bit smaller. The device has 854×480 Pixels 5.0-inch FWVGA screen, not bad, but a little lower than the standard with most budget smartphones coming with 720 x 1280. The company could have done better in this department since a low screen resolution could be a deal breaker for most people these days.

Camera and operating system

The device features a 2MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera, good enough for general photography. The selfie camera comes with soft LED flash and seems to mimic the infinix hot 3. the Android 6.0 marshmallow with a customised UI appears to be a major selling point for the smartphone.

Storage

Tecno W3 comes with 8GB of internal storage and a 2GB RAM to smoothly both the OS and allow easy navigation. You can expand the device memory with an SD card up to 64GB to accommodate all your stuff.

Performance

The smartphone comes with a MediaTek quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz as well as the 1GB RAM give a mid-range performance quite impressive for a low budget smartphone.
