Not so long ago, the fingerprint sensor used to be only associated with premium devices, but that trend is rapidly changing. Recent smartphones on the lower midrange category are quickly catching up, and Infinix is no exception, the company has incorporated this premium feature in their latest smartphone, the Infinix Hot 4. Apart from the fingerprint sensor, this device comes with a bunch of other additional features including a stronger battery.

Design and display

The Infinix Hot 4 comes with a 5.5 inch HD IPS 1280 x 720 display. The touch panel is, however, satisfactory at best but the icons and fit nicely on the on its colourful display. There is a bezel with the same colour of the body is covered around the whole frame of the device. The device weighs 175 grams, a little more than its predecessor, the Hot 3 owing to the big non-removable battery. The front camera and its flash are on the left front side of the device.  The power and the volume rocker buttons are on the right side of the device. The 3.5mm audio jack and the micro USB port are on the top and bottoms sides of the device respectively.

Camera

The Infinix Hot 4 has a 5MP front camera and 8MP rear camera both with LED flash. The images are quite sharp with a decent colour combination. The primary camera can record HD videos up to 1080 pixels. Its main modes are normal, professional, beauty, night mode and Panorama. The front camera has beauty, normal and wide selfie modes and is capable of recording videos of up to 480 pixels.

Software and performance

This device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Infinix XOS chameleon v2.0 UI on top for enhancing user experience. The ARM Cortex-A7 1.3 GHZ quad-core processor ensures a smooth running of the operating system. The device supports Mt6580 chipset but only to 720 pixels unlike 1080p on other devices.

Memory

The device comes with a 2GB RAM and 16BG ROM expandable up to 64GB with a micro SD card. The memory works well with a few apps, but you will need to use a memory card if you want to install many applications. 

Price and availability

The Infinix Hot 4 is an excellent low-cost device with some good features. It lacks 4G LTE connectivity but compensates with a powerful battery. With a price of 9699 Kenya shillings, this is a device to go for.
