Sony Xperia XA Ultra Review and price in kenya
-Advertisement-
The major highlight of the recently
unveiled Sony Xperia XA Ultra is the
camera and its large
display. There has been an increase of big screen
smartphones in the cell phone manufacture industry. These devices are intended
to hit a particular target market; the young generation whose primary interests
are texting and taking pictures for social media. This is not a premium device;
it is a 6.0 inches phablet with the features of a midrange smartphone.

Display and design
This device comes with a bright 6-inch full
HD IPS display. With a decent pixel density of 367 ppi, the device offers an
above average viewing experience in different angles. The Sony Xperia XA Ultra’s frame is made of aluminium with clear
polycarbonate on the back. Both the micro SD memory and the SIM card slots are
covered with a lid on the left side of the aluminium frame. This, however, does
not mean that the device has a water resistance characteristic like in most
Sony Xperia line devices. This phablet does not have water resistance
certification thus in this case the lid is just purely visual. The device will
be available in lime, black, gold and white. The headphones jack is at the top
of the device and a speaker at the bottom, quite an inconvenience while
watching media or playing games with the phablet.
Camera
The Sony
Xperia Ultra XA comes with a 21.5MP back camera and a 16MP front camera
optimised for low light conditions and a LED flash. The front camera gives
better results and has a digital optimisation function in the form of an
optical image stabiliser. When put in comparison using computer software,
images from the front camera appeared to be better than those from the rear
camera which showed some distortions. The hybrid autofocus feature proved
useful for quick image capture and focusing on the scene.
Performance
For a device with the word ‘Ultra’ in its
name, the Japanese company could have done much better performance-wise on the Sony Xperia XA Ultra. The device comes
with 3GBs of RAM and a Cortex A-53 midrange MediaTek Helio P10 2.0 GHz
octa-core processor. The device comes
with 16 GB internal storage expandable to 200GB. For better performance,
consider expanding the device’s memory using a micro SD card.
Software
The phablet comes with Android 6.0
marshmallow, but the company kept the UI light and colourful for a smooth
experience. The Xperia UI has a system of suggested apps on the home screen and
a new lock screen. Instead of the traditional Xperia keyboard, the device comes
pre-installed Swiftkey keyboard.
Summary
The Sony
Xperia XA Ultra is a decent looking phablet that will be empowered by a
midrange price once it hits the domestic market. With all these specs the phone is approximated to have a Price in Kenya a of around 60,000. It offers an array of extra
features uncommon in that category of smartphones which just might appeal to
the Kenyan market.
