Factors to consider When Choosing A smartphone

Making a choice on what smartphone to purchase is kind of a big deal for most smartphone users. Technology has made smartphones indispensable to most people by the inclusion of features that make the performance of daily activities such as checking emails, reading, getting social updates and performing certain tasks faster and simpler.  There are various factors to take into consideration when selecting a smartphone. You might want to review the following specification if you are in the process of shopping for a new smartphone.

Operating system

When it comes to smartphones, a few operating systems stand out. The operating system of your phone comes pre-installed and is pretty much the software that allows your phone to function the way it does. The operating system processes information and gives the phone its abilities as well as determining the way it looks and feels to the user. The most popular smartphone operating systems are Android, iPhone OS, Blackberry OS and Windows. IPhone OS is only used by Apple’s IPhone while different smartphone manufacturers use Android and Windows.

Hardware Configuration

The physical design of a smartphone is of utmost importance for many users. When it comes to smartphones, getting to define a good or bad hardware design is a highly subjective process though most users are just looking for aesthetics and a quality build.
Internal Storage and Expandable Memory
This is one of the most important factors to consider when shopping for a smartphone. Opt for as much internal storage as possible in my opinion, nothing less than 8GB. This is because low internal storage will can reduce performance and you can’t even install large applications, as well as affect the storage of media such as music and pictures. Most smartphones will come with an SD card slot so the user can expand the memory of his device. Also, the random access memory commonly referred to as RAM, is critical. Low RAM will lead to poor performance when it comes to gaming and other functions.

Screen Size and Quality

The display of a smartphone is essential to a smartphone user as it acts as the only interface and you are going to spend a lot of time looking at it, so it has to be good. Sometimes size doesn’t matter when it comes to smartphones. Having a big screen on a smartphone can be fun, especially when viewing media or streaming movies and videos online. But a big screen translates to a big phone and some people prefer smaller phones. There are different screen technologies namely AMOLED, LCD, Bravia, Retina and many others, but LCD and AMOLED are the most popular. There are no major noticeable differences between smartphone screen types, but AMOLED screens are preferred when it comes to gaming and watching media from a smartphone.

Camera

To compare camera features on potential smartphones, start by checking out the megapixels. The megapixels determine the quality and resolution of the image thus the higher, the better. Smartphones may be able to take better pictures than digital cameras these days, and that is a good thing. You don’t have to take your digital camera with you when attending events.

Pricing and Budget

How much you spend on a device matters, and you should be careful and ensure that you get your money’s worth. Determine the amount of cash you are willing to spend on a new smartphone and this will help you enter the market more prepared. Make sure that you choose within the range of devices that suits your needs and matches your budget for a smooth shopping experience.
