BlackBerry Unveils the DTEK50 For $299 smartphone

Blackberry has unveiled their latest
creation, the blackberry DTEK50.
This is good news especially for blackberry enthusiasts, who have been looking
forward to the next android blackberry device. The company has recently been struggling
in the smartphone manufacturing business their latest device is a move to
restore past glory, maybe to the days of the blackberry bold and cure handsets.
The Canadian company dominated the mobile handsets world in the days of BBM but
was unable to keep up with the constantly evolving smartphone world. The
company claims that this device is the world’s most secure Android smartphone,
and this can be owed to its DTEK software, where the smartphone also derives
its name, which doesn’t add any street appeal to the device if you ask me. If
you put this phone next to the blackberry Priv, its big brother, it’s probably
safe to say that you have the world’s most secure Android devices. Let’s take a
closer look at the device.
Design and display
The device is the thinnest Blackberry
device in the market, and surprisingly light, weighing only 135 grams. It has a
5.2 inches high definition display, though not as colourful as an AMOLED
screen, the Blackberry DTEK50’s
screen is bright and clear. There is a power key on the left side of the device
and an action key on the right, a centralised round key that allows you to
access the recent or the most used application. The action key is joined by the
volume key on the same right-hand side of the handset. There is no cutting edge
design here but the nicely fitted metal frame, and the device’s manageable size
gives it a soft touch in the back which allows it to rest comfortably in your
palm.
Performance and specs
The blackberry
DTEK50 comes with the Android 6.0 marshmallow and an excellent collection
of pre-installed blackberry apps and features. The company has done very little
to mess Google’s latest Android version resulting in a smooth experience. The
phone comes with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory expandable up to 2TB.
To make the card work seamlessly, the device is designed in such a way that its
operating system adopts the external storage and treats it as part of the
internal storage. The octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor increases the loading
speeds and gives a smooth navigation overall. It device has an 8mp front camera
with flash and a 13mp rear camera.
Security
This is the best feature on this device.
Security on the blackberry DTEK50 is
made simple for everyone and shows you how secure your phone is as well as
constantly trying to improve your device's security status through DTEK
software. The phone also comes with other blackberry pre-installed security
protocols for an enhanced experience.
In summary:
The blackberry
DTEK50 is not going to blow your mind with its flagship features or wow you
with its design, but it is an amazingly promising mid-range smartphone with
enhanced privacy and arguably the best security in the mid-range smartphone
category. The device fully encrypts all your data, has a decent spec sheet and
is expected to retail at a reasonable price when it hits the Kenyan market.
